About Us

Mary Schindel was a woman with a passion for shopping! No matter the occasion or where, she was always up for the outing! After being diagnosed with Leukemia, she and her husband Paul, decided it was time to Take the Leap and open her own boutique. 

Just The Thing opened in 2007 as a fine jewelry & unique gift boutique! Mary filled the store from floor to ceiling with the hottest gifts & most exquisite jewelry items for everyone's taste! Although in 2010 she was outgrowing her location and decided to move & rebrand through the process. 

She Chester Boutique had it's grand re-brand in September of 2010, where Mary was able to expand not only her store but help the Chester community with a strong small business within the community. Over the years Mary slowly added clothing to the boutique, but in late 2015 Mary lost her battle with Leukemia. Her husband Paul & daughter Bridget now are the partner team who are behind this amazing store to continue to carry out Mary's dream. 

Now in our 11th year, we are not only expanding our Brick & Mortar store but we are opening up to the online community to continue to provide a unique shopping experience for so many who cannot make it to our boutique. 

She Chester Boutique is a family owned and operated business in Chester, Virginia specializing in a unique shopping experience for our friends & family. We believe every item is a gift, and gift wrap items whether they are for yourself or a friend!
